General Travel Information
Make your Way to Ardrossan Harbour
- By Rail - there is a direct train from Glasgow Central.
- By Road - Ardrossan is on the South West coast of Scotland about ten miles north of Ayr. You can leave your car in the carpark of the ferry terminal. There is a bus which runs from Glasgow.
- By Air - The two nearest airports are Glasgow Airport and Prestwick International Airport
- By Helicopter - and yes it is possible to land a helicopter on the Holy Isle.

Important information: Crossing to Holy Isle
Crossing Lamlash Bay, to and from Holy Isle, depends on the tides so there will be some days when some of the crossings outlined in the Travel Timetable will not be possible.
- If you are coming to Holy Isle to attend a course you can find crossing times for your specific course in the course information on this website. Please check out the relevant part of the 'Courses' section prior to making travel arrangements.
- Individuals or groups coming for personal retreats or holiday breaks who are not attending a course should contact the Holy Isle Reception to confirm crossing times prior to making travel arrangements.
- During the season high winds can sometimes prevent crossings. If you are in any doubt, please call the Reception on Holy Isle (01770 601100) the day before your departure to ensure that tides and weather are favourable.
- Day visitors should contact the Holy Isle Ferry directly. See contact details above.
